Mayor Eric Adams Declares March 20th as MeatOut Day in New York

New York City has gone meat-free! At the very least, for one day.

Mayor Eric Adams has declared March 20 to be MeatOut Day throughout the city.

New York will join 14 other US states, including Texas, Cincinnati, and Ohio, in celebrating MeatOut Day.

Furthermore, MeatOut Day highlights the Farm Animal Rights Movement’s (FARM) work by highlighting the health and environmental benefits of plant-based diets.

MeatOut Day in New York

In recent years, New York has embraced a plant-based diet.

Vegan-friendly options abound in the city, making it simple to eliminate meat and dairy from your diet.

New York will host unique activities throughout the city during the meat-free day in March, including a celebration at P.S. Kitchen, located at 246 W 48th Street.

“As a New Yorker myself, I am particularly proud of this proclamation… The advances Mayor Adams has made toward a plant-based future, and Vegan Fridays in New York City schools, align perfectly with our mission and the mission of MeatOut,” Eric C Lindstrom, Executive Director of FARM, remarked in response to the proclamation.

MeatOut began in 1985 and has grown to become the world’s largest annual grassroots educational campaign promoting a meat-free diet.

This global event will also bring people together to learn, share food, and celebrate a diet that is free of unnecessary cruelty.

Eric Adams’ Objective

Eric Adams has committed his time to promoting a healthy plant-based diet to the citizens of New York since his election in 2021.

Adams switched to a plant-based diet after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and has subsequently reversed the disease.

Although the mayor is not vegan, he claims that his imperfect plant-based diet has significantly improved his health.

Mayor Adams’ goal is to improve New York City’s health by introducing more healthful meat-free options.

Last month, Adams launched Vegan Fridays in the city’s 1,700 public schools.

We hope that many cities will be inspired by Adams’ commitment to a brighter future for all.
