The list of celebrity ambassadors for Beyond Meat has risen yet again. This time, socialite Kim Kardashian has joined the movement, stating that she is going “plant-based” with the help of the company’s vegan meat line.
Kardashian joined Beyond Meat as the company’s first Chief Taste Consultant, with a whopping 313 million Instagram followers.
According to a press release, the A-lister will promote “her favorite Beyond Meat products” through recipes and creative material.
She’ll be featured in the Beyond Meat newsletter as well.
“I’ve been focusing on going more plant-based and can tell you that Beyond Meat is my absolute favorite – I love how all their products not only taste amazing but are also good for me and my family,” Kardashian said in a statement. Adding that her four children are “obsessed” with her Beyond Beef taco recipe, the Beyond Burger, and Beyond Chicken Tenders.
“As my fans know, my fridge and freezer are fully stocked with Beyond Meat’s products.”
Beyond’s Celebrity Influence
Kardashian also expressed her delight in the collaboration, and is “really inspired” by Beyond Meat’s mission.
“[I] love that they are not only making plant-based eating delicious and accessible, but are doing so in a way that benefits both people and the planet,” Kardashian said.
“It’s empowering to know that the small changes I’m making for my family, like incorporating more Beyond Meat into our meals, can add up to make a big impact.”
As a Beyond Meat advocate, Kardashian joins Shay Mitchell, Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, and Liza Koshy. Since its inception in 2009, the brand has grown to over 135,000 retail and foodservice locations in over 90 countries.
It’s no coincidence that Beyond Meat has a star-studded cast of supporters. Aside from the certainly increased attention the brand receives, research shows that celebrities and social media can have an impact on what people eat.
A survey commissioned by dairy company Arla earlier this year indicated that one in three adults make dietary decisions based on what they read on social media.
In addition, a Harvard study published in 2015 examined the impact of celebrities in bringing attention to the climate crisis, particularly its links to animal agriculture.
“Celebrities can help draw attention to an issue and galvanize youth engagement,” it claimed.
“Food is one such area where celebrities can help link the impacts of climate change to our consumption habits,” according to the report.
“Celebrities can help by relating the causes and impacts of climate change to existing socio-cultural practices, facilitating not only a questioning of cultural values (such as meat and dairy consumption) but simultaneously making the necessary changes to our habits appear more positive, achievable and accessible,” the article concluded.
