Impossible Foods Launches New Pork-Free Sausage

Impossible Foods Pork-Free Sausage

With the debut of its newest product, Impossible Sausage Links Made From Plants, Impossible Foods is once again reinventing the plant-based pork sector. The new pork-free links are available in Bratwurst, Italian, and Spicy flavors and are prepared in the same way as their pork-derived counterparts. The new Impossible Sausage Links are available in shops starting this month and will be available nationally in time for grilling season this summer.

Impossible Foods has a method that allows it to pack plant-based casings with ground and seasoned pork-free meat before twisting it off, giving the plant-based sausage the same trademark snap as traditional pork sausage links.

The new Impossible sausages may be eaten whole or used in pastas, sandwiches, and other meals that call for swine sausage links. Impossible’s version, unlike swine sausage, contains no added nitrates, nitrites, or cholesterol, and is far more ecologically friendly. According to a Life Cycle Assessment, its plant-based sausage consumes 79 percent less water, 71 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and 41 percent less land than animal pig sausage.

“We didn’t compromise when it came to making sure Impossible Sausage Links deliver all the satisfying snap and sizzle that consumers love about pork sausage… Our innovative technology platform and consumer-focused design approach allowed us to finesse everything from the spice mix to the casing and stuffing process, and we really perfected it to give consumers the opportunity to enjoy what they love most about pork sausage from pigs without sacrificing on taste, versatility, or environmental impact,” said Laura Kliman, Director of New Product Development at Impossible Foods.

Impossible Foods Plant-Based Meat

Impossible Meals was formed in 2011 by visionary Patrick O. Brown with the purpose of replacing all animal foods with sustainable plant-based alternatives by 2035. Impossible Foods spent years building a plant-based imitation of ground beef with its Impossible Burger, so progress on that aim was originally modest. However, the corporation has ramped up the pace in recent months, now that it has roughly $2 billion in venture money.

The new sausage links from Impossible Foods are the company’s sixth product introduction in the previous eight months. In the pork sector, the business first introduced its Impossible Sausage through foodservice partners including Jamba, Starbucks, and Burger King before launching it in stores last year. The business also manufactures meatballs from its Impossible Burger beef, which it blends together. Impossible Meatballs first debuted in November at 3,000 Walmart locations, where they were offered in a designated case with other Impossible goods.

With the introduction of Impossible Nuggets produced from Plants last summer, Impossible also broke into the chicken industry. At the start of the year, the vegan chicken nuggets were available in stores and restaurants, as well as on the concession menu at AMC Theaters in 37 states. Impossible recently developed Wild Nuggies, new designs of its plant-based chicken nuggets that educate consumers about endangered animals, to further revolutionize the chicken sector.

Impossible joins a growing number of companies around the world that have developed a plant-based alternative to the world’s second most consumed meat, including fellow California-based brand Beyond Meat, Hong Kong’s OmniPork, and meat giant Hormel, which last year launched plant-based pepperoni in hundreds of pizzerias.
