Billie Eilish Putting Climate Action at Forefront of World Tour

Billie Eilish, a vegan pop star, has begun her latest world tour. The performances will feature songs from the songwriter’s 2021 album, Happier Than Ever, as well as an eco-friendly twist.

Eilish will support several environmental groups and encourage fans to vow to consume more plant-based meals during her global tour.

Bringing BIPOC and women-led sustainable projects to the forefront is one part of this.

This year, the seven-time Grammy winner will play in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand (Aotearoa).

The Eco-Friendly Tour of Billie Eilish

Through the creation of Billie Eilish Action Village, Eilish is sharing an eco-friendly message along the route. Support + Feed will be one of the minority environmental groups that will be hosted and supported.

Maggie Baird, Eilish’s mother, runs the plant-based charity, which offers meals to individuals who are hungry.

The singer announced the start of The Pledge with Support + Feed, which encourages guests to eat one plant-based meal each day for 30 days.

It also involves a collaboration with REVERB, an environmental non-profit that claims to have so far eliminated 287,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.

REVERB’s Music Climate Revolution initiative includes the Happier Than Ever tour. This not only helps to minimize the tour’s total environmental impact, but it also supports measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The trip is “climate positive,” meaning it goes beyond net-zero carbon emissions and actively removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, thanks to these combined efforts.

Music Focused on the Environment

On February 3, Eilish’s Happier Than Ever tour kicked off.

Eilish has engaged vegan business Wicked Kitchen to support Support + Feed’s critical work, in addition to the aforementioned eco-friendly relationships. To assist those in need, the groups will provide 100,000 plant-based meals.

“There is no better time than now to do what we can to alleviate the suffering in this world… That starts with any positive impact we can support within local communities,” said co-founder Chad Sarno in a statement.

“This sense of urgency that Wicked shares with Support + Feed is the driving force of our partnership. And, will be amplified with the power of plant-based food distribution.”

Taking Action

It’s not the first time Eilish has advocated for environmentally conscious options while on tour.

REVERB, for example, was a part of the singer’s Where Do We Go tour. There were also free filtered water refill stations available.

Eilish talked about making the tour “as green as possible” on Jimmy Fallon in 2019.

“There are no plastic straws allowed, the fans are going to bring their own water bottles… There’s going to be recycle cans everywhere. Because it’s like, if something’s recyclable, it doesn’t matter unless there’s a recycle bin,” she stated.
