On March 22, Cadbury will open a totally vegan pop-up shop in Soho, London. The store will be open for a total of five days.
This comes only a few months after the chocolate behemoth announced the debut of its first-ever vegan chocolate bar in the United Kingdom in October of last year.
The Cadbury Plant Bars, which come in two flavors: smooth chocolate and smooth chocolate with salted caramel chunks, will be featured at the pop-up.
The revelation was first reported by Timeout yesterday. It’s unclear what other items will be offered at this time.
The Vegan Chocolate Demand
Vegan chocolate has been in high demand for some years, and Cadbury’s was the brand many were hoping to see.
Veganuary conducted a poll in 2019 and discovered that those who follow a plant-based diet are yearning for vegan Cadbury’s products.
Participants were asked which chocolate they would want to see ‘veganized.’ Cadbury’s Dairy Milk received the most votes (28 percent), making it the most popular option.
Apologizing for the Delay
Last year, Cadbury expressed regret for keeping vegans waiting, adding, “sorry it’s taken this long.”
By not producing vegan chocolate sooner, the storied 197-year-old confectionery company said it had fallen far behind competitors.
“Dear plant-based Britain, we’re sorry. Sorry it’s taken this long, sorry it seemed like we weren’t listening to your calls, sorry for not being able to respond to the rumors. And sorry for all the other chocolate you’ve had to eat while you wait… We hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait,” the company stated.
Free Chocolate for All
Customers who visit the pop-up will be given a free Cadbury Plant Bar, according to Timeout.
