To welcome in the New Year, Ziggy’s, a renowned vegan restaurant in San Luis Obispo, launched a second location in Paso Robles on January 1. The restaurant, which is located at 1227 Pine Street, offers plant-based cuisine as well as an all-day breakfast menu.

“We chose Paso Robles for a second location because we found there simply weren’t enough plant-based options in town that were fast, fun, and convenient,” said co-owner Matt Martinez.

“When we were presented with the opportunity to serve our food downtown, it was even more of a reason to be here. We are so far beyond thankful for the reception we’ve received.”

“All of the locals and neighboring businesses have been overwhelmingly supportive and we are absolutely humbled. We have met so many great people in just our first week, and the days are just flying by because it’s been so much fun.”

Burgers, tacos, salads, fries, and vegan milkshakes are among the menu’s offerings, which also include avocado egg rolls, Korean cauliflower nibbles, and a morning burrito and breakfast sandwich.

The “Ziggy patty,” prepared of black beans, pinto beans, carrots, maize, bell peppers, and spices, or the “Impossible Burger” are among the burger options. The Phoenix with roasted jalapeos, guacamole, pepper jack, shredded lettuce, chipotle aioli, and the Old 58 with pepper jack, ranch sauce, and BBQ sauce are among the hot options.

The taco selection is as diverse as the burgers, and the milkshakes are produced with plant-based, dairy-free ice cream from Scoop the Magic in San Luis Obispo.

Matt Martinez and Brian Englund, the co-owners, met in high school in Morro Bay. Englund owns the Central Coast’s Sylvester’s eateries as well as Kuma, a ramen and sushi restaurant in Los Osos.

When Martinez returned to the Central Coast after 20 years in Orange County eateries, he and his partner decided to build a restaurant “that we wanted to eat at,” Martinez said. The team opened Ziggy’s in San Luis Obispo in February 2020 with the purpose of providing additional plant-based eating alternatives for the Central Coast.

The Paso Robles Ziggy’s presently offers capacity for eight people, but Martinez stated that “we expect to add more seating in the coming weeks.” Ziggy’s is presently accepting takeaway and in-person orders. To place an order, call (805) 221-5999. Paso Robles will soon have online ordering.

The restaurant is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the exception of Jan. 11, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Ziggy’s in San Luis Obispo is situated at 594 California Boulevard and can be reached at (805) 439-4399. Check out the menus for both locations on Ziggy’s website.
