30 Chains and Small Pizzerias With the Best Vegan Pizza Across the U.S. (2023)

Vegan Pizza

As the vegan movement grows, more and more pizza chains and small pizzerias are offering vegan options. Almost regardless of where you live, you can find vegan pizza near you. While ordering vegan pizza at some restaurants simply requires choosing the “accidentally vegan” crust, sauces, and toppings, other restaurants now offer specifically plant-based cheeses and meats.

Author: Colleen Kane

Although a number of the larger pizza chains do not currently offer plant-based cheeses or meats, with enough public pressure, they very well may someday! Making it easier to be vegan is one of the most effective things vegans can do to promote veganism. As more and more vegan offerings make veganism easy and accessible, more people will see going vegan as something that they could do, too.

So, the next time you place an order for a vegan pizza, consider calling or writing to the manager. Even if you know a restaurant doesn’t currently offer plant-based substitutes, call and inquire about what vegan options they have. If they say they don’t offer any, ask when they plan to offer them to meet the growing demand for plant-based options. This helps create public pressure and lets restaurants know that there is a growing market for vegan options.

1. Domino’s

Given that Domino’s has over 6,500 locations across the U.S. alone, plus locations in 84 other countries, it’s likely they have one near you. While Domino’s in the U.S. doesn’t currently offer vegan cheese or vegan meat, you can still create a custom vegan pizza. The secret is to double up on the “accidentally vegan” ingredients, like their chunky robust tomato sauce, jalapenos, and garlic dipping sauce.

Crust

Only the thin crust is vegan at Domino’s, as the Brooklyn, Handmade Pan, Hand Tossed, and Gluten-Free crusts all contain milk or honey.

Pizza Sauce

Only the Robust Inspired Tomato Sauce is vegan, as the rest contain milk ingredients.

Dipping Sauces

Their vegan sauces include Barbeque Dipping Sauce, Garlic Dipping Sauce, Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce, Italian Dipping Sauce, Marinara Dipping Sauce (not the Marinara Pizza Sauce), Robust Inspired Tomato Sauce, and Sweet Mango Habanero (both dipping and regular sauce). While the garlic oil blend contains cheese, the garlic and herb seasoning offers a similar flavor.

Toppings

Then, load your pizza up with as many of their vegetables as you like, including carrots, spinach, banana peppers, canned tomatoes, garlic, green bell peppers, green chili peppers, hamburger dill chips, jalapeno peppers, mushrooms, black and green olives, onions, parsley, pepperoncini, pineapple, and roasted red peppers.

Additional vegan pizza toppings include butter-flavored oil, cinnamon sugar, cornmeal, creole seasoning, crushed red pepper, garlic, and herb spices, and oregano blend shake-on. If you’d like the add a salad, the garden salad (without cheese) is vegan, and so are the following salad dressings: Ken’s Golden Italian, Ken’s Light Balsamic with Olive Oil, Kraft Catalina, Marzetti Balsamic, and Marzetti Golden Italian.

2. Pizza Hut

One of the big names of fast food pizza places, Pizza Hut, has more than 18,000 restaurants in over 100 countries. Until Pizza Hut offers vegan cheese, going the no-cheese route is the way to go here. Instead, double up on the veggies. While Pizza Hut offered Beyond Sausage for a limited time, it is no longer offering it, unfortunately.

Is there vegan pizza near me? Yes – simply customize it!

Almost everywhere across the U.S., you can find a pizza chain or smaller pizzeria to satisfy your vegan pizza cravings! One route is to omit the cheese and double up on the sauce and veggies, and maybe even add your own vegan cheese or vegan proteins at home. This is the best option at some of the very large chains that don’t yet offer vegan cheese and meat substitutes.

However, many other pizza franchises are beginning to catch on, that a growing number of consumers want compassionate, eco-conscious, and healthier plant-based options. At these restaurants, vegans can easily swap out dairy for vegan cheeses like Daiya and proteins Beyond Meat, tofu, tempeh, and plant-based pepperoni.

As veganism continues to spread worldwide, we’ll continue to see plant-based offerings at pizza restaurants increase. If you share your delicious vegan pizza pie with friends, you might even make a few converts along the way!
