French Vegan Dinner at Delice & Sarrasin in West Village (Limited Attendance)

April 21, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm GMT-0400

**NOTE: THIS SMALL EVENT HAS FILLED UP. WE WILL BE EXPANDING THE EVENT. PLEASE RSVP FOR THE WAITING LIST.**

Friends, it would be our great pleasure if you could join the NYC Vegetarian and Vegan group to explore French cuisine at Delice & Sarrasin restaurant in West Village!

**FOOD**: Did you ever want to eat at a French restaurant but found only one or two veg* items on the menu? Relish meat, seafood, and poultry but are concerned about ethical sourcing of the ingredients? Wish for sweet and savory crepes but don’t care for the dairy? The delightful menu at Delice and Sarrasin is all vegan!

Enjoy flavorful “duck,” rich “beef” bourguignon, and/or breaded mushroom cutlet with “truffle goat cheese.” According to The New Yorker, “You can also evaluate a vegan dish on its own terms, mentally setting aside whatever fleshy alias it’s been assigned.” Most of their dishes are soy free, gluten free and nut free. Do stay a while for the lavender rice pudding and 100% vegan wine!

Head Chef Yvette Caron Soriano mastered cooking at Le Garenne restaurant and hotel in South France.

**The New Yorker:** My father, a longtime pescatarian, tried them and wove a theory (in jest, sort of) that the kitchen is serving actual crab to unsuspecting herbivores. **“This is crab cake,” he kept saying, indiscreetly. (Rest assured, the “crab” cake is made of dehydrated lemon peel, yellow bell pepper, and seaweed marinated in soy sauce; wheat flour provides the crust.) In the tournedos Rossini, pan-seared Impossible Burger, subbing in for filet steak, fooled us both.**

**The Infatuation**: “…a vegan French restaurant in the West Village where the dishes look exactly like plates coming out of a kitchen in Paris. **The tahini-based foie gras, buckwheat crêpes with smoked ‘salmon,’ and orange crème brûlée are all quite reminiscent of the dishes they’re based on. If you’re a vegan who loves French food, this should be your go-to spot.**”

**Conde Nast Traveler:** If you’re looking for a meal that feels classy and celebratory, going for French is a natural default. Though the staples are butter-smothered, meaty, caramelized, and sometimes bloody, **Delice & Sarrasin in the West Village brings plant-based reinterpretations on French classics with all the indulgent flavors of the omnivorous originals and leaves no crumbs.** The tahini-based foie gras végétal, boeuf bourguignon, and brie roti végétal are particularly authentic dupes for the real thing. (**Of course, Conde Nast also includes Delice & Sarrasin on their list of the best vegan restaurants in New York City.**)

* Another option is to take **1** train to **Houston Street** station, then walk one block east
