Vkind Community Guidelines

Vkind is a platform committed to growing The VegEconomy, a network of plant-based businesses and professionals uniting to co-create a plant-powered economy.

Our best chance to build a successful movement is with the help of a strong, supportive, and safe community. Our hope is that Vkind connects purpose-driven consumers with ethically-aligned businesses embracing The VegEconomy values of kindness, social responsibility and sustainable living.

1. Reviews

Photos used for product and service reviews should have a clear photograph (if applicable) taken by the member submitting them with an accompanying caption at least 50 characters long. Additionally, the name of the dish/product should match what is displayed on the business’ menu/website.

1.1 Vegan Products Only

While every product or dish reviewed by Vkind is vegan, reviews by fellow Vkind Community members may not list allergen information. Members are responsible for checking allergen information for themselves and Vkind will not be held liable for allergic reactions resulting from using a product endorsed by Vkind or Vkind Community members.   

1.2 Photos

1. Share only clear photos that you have taken yourself; screenshots and photos taken from other websites are not acceptable. 
2. The photos should correspond with the review. For example, if you review a product, upload a photo of the product, not the store.
3. Inappropriate and vulgar photos will not be accepted.
4. The clear focus of the photos should be of the dish or product.

1.3 Text

1. Reviews can be in any language you’re most comfortable using. Our community is wonderfully diverse!
2. Be specific with your reviews in terms of what you enjoyed or didn’t enjoy about the dish, product, brand or restaurant so other members can know more about it and restaurants or brands can receive helpful feedback.
3. Reviews containing false/dishonest information are contrary to our guidelines and not permitted.
4. Reviews have a 50 character minimum to ensure reviews are clear, relevant, and are adding value to the Vkind Community.

1.4 Dishes

1. A dish is something that is served from a physical restaurant, takeaway or delivery. Reviews of home-cooked dishes do not count towards a dish review. If you’d like to submit a recipe for possible publication on our food blog, click here. 
2. Names of dishes should be accurate to the restaurant’s menu/website.
3. All reviewed dishes must be 100% vegan, and therefore contain no animal products (including eggs, dairy and honey). Dishes that are clearly not vegan will be removed and your account may be subject to suspension upon repeated occurrence. 

1.5 Products

1. Reviewed products must not contain any animal products (including eggs, milk, honey and any other animal-derived ingredient). If you’re unsure, please check the ingredients. Names of products should be accurate and match the packaging.
2. Products should correspond to the appropriate category.
3. Products should be attributed to the brand and producer not the retailer/store where it was bought.
4. Reviews of food products can also contain images and information about uses for home-cooked dishes in addition to the photo of the product itself.
5. Cosmetics must not be animal tested and this should be clearly stated either on the brand website or on the product packaging.

2. Posts

A post is a way for members to share themselves and add value to the Vkind Community. Members should strive to create a sense of belonging and inclusion for the community rather than attempt to tarnish it for others with negativity. 

Please respect the privacy and safety of others. Bullying, harassment, hate speech, graphic and inappropriate content will not be tolerated. Refer to sections 3.1 and 3.2 for further details.

2.1 Photos

Only appropriate photos will be accepted. Anything vulgar, inappropriate, offensive or graphic is not allowed. “Graphic”imagery includes, but is not limited to, shocking or graphic content, acts of extreme violence, nudity or sexual content. Offending members will be removed and banned from the platform upon repeated occurrence.

2.2 Contents

Any post considered to be bullying in nature including harassment, adult content, slander, advocating against veganism or sustainability, hate speech, any form of violence or encouraging harm to animals, the environment and people will be reviewed and removed. False propaganda and misleading information is not allowed. Any post flagged as false will be reviewed and potentially removed if information is not fact-based.

Do not post illegal content or solicit or facilitate illegal or prohibited transactions. Violators are subject to immediate removal from our platform, being reported to authorities, and may face criminal prosecution. 

3. Community

Be accepting, supportive, respectful and above all, kind. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. 

3.1 Supportive

We want the Vkind Community to be a safe and supportive space where everyone on the plant-based spectrum, from vegan to veg-curious, can come together and endorse sustainable global change by doing business with VegEconomy enterprises. 

3.2 Accepting

There may be individuals who are still on their journey to living a plant-based or vegan lifestyle. Be accepting of where they are and encourage them to continue on their exploration. Vkind hopes to instill a sense of shared community and belonging. Posts or conversations with qualities of blaming/shaming will be promptly removed.  

3.3 Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Our Company Statement of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion reads:

Bringing the best of the vegan world together begins with bringing the best of our diverse human world together to create a collaborative work environment where everyone on the team is empowered to feel seen, heard, and represented. 

Vkind is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracism and anti-discrimination. We believe in fostering an authentic sense of belonging through inclusion of the diversity of thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and experiences of our employees, irrespective of their gender identity, race, color, sexual orientation, language, national origin, religion, disability, or age. 

3.4 No Bullying or Harassment

Every user has a right to use Vkind free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. We do not tolerate content that attacks, makes fun of, or otherwise diminishes marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. 

Members encouraging violence or attack on anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, diseases or dietary preference will be permanently banned.

Any conduct intended to stalk or harass other users, or to impede other users from utilizing the service, or to degrade the performance of the service, or to harass other users, or to incite other users to perform any of the aforementioned actions, is also disallowed, and subject to punishment up to and including revocation of access to the service. 

This includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviors:

1. Inciting users to engage another user in continued interaction or discussion after a user has requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist (informally called brigading or dogpiling) may be considered harassment.
2. Aggregating, posting, and/or disseminating a person’s demographic, personal, or private data without express permission (informally called doxing or dropping dox) may be considered harassment.
3. Continuing to engage in conversation with a user that has specifically requested for said engagement with that user to cease and desist may be considered harassment, regardless of platform-specific privacy tools employed.

4. Penalties and Suspensions

Content that doesn’t follow our community guidelines will be reviewed and appropriate actions will be taken to hide or remove the content. Reviews that don’t follow our community guidelines will be removed at Vkind’s discretion. Members who consistently refuse to follow these guidelines may have their accounts banned.

Members are expected to follow interaction guidelines as stated in Article 3; those who do not adhere to community guidelines will be issued a warning either in-app, via email, or in the comments following a post. Members who continue to ignore our warnings/reminders will have corrective action taken against them. Depending on the severity, offending members may be subject to immediate removal without warning.
