DESCRIPTION:Join me for a challenging ~7-mile hike on Sugarloaf Mountain\, Dickerson\, MD (Frederick County). This privately maintained property is rich in civil war history and a popular area hiking spot. \nExpect a relatively speedy pace\, rocky and uneven terrain and a steep elevation gain of nearly 1\,500 ft. You should be able to hike uphill without break for at least an hour\, as well as comfortably scramble over rocks and negotiate uneven surfaces. Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and weather-appropriate clothing. \nMeeting Point: [Sugarloaf Mountain East View Parking lot](https://maps.app.goo.gl/woyieESUTXrNyDPz9)\nMeeting Time: 8:15 am\nDistance: ~7 miles\nDifficulty: Strenuous\nPace: Moderate (2.5 miles/hr)\nElevation gain: ~1500 ft\nDuration: 3.5 – 4 hours\nType of trail: Dirt\, rocks\, gravel\, tree roots \n**Dog friendly?**\nYes\, please keep your dog leashed. Dogs are the sole responsibility of the owner(s) who brought them; should be up to date on their vaccinations & in possession of the relevant tags; and should be under the control of their owner(s) at all times. Dogs that demonstrate consistently aggressive or otherwise out-of-control behavior will be banned from future hikes. Owners should come prepared to dispose of any waste. \n**Bathroom Facilities/Food/Water?**\nNo water\, but portable toilets may be available at the trailhead.
