SUMMARY:VSDC Visit to Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary- SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:Join VSDC for a tour of the Sanctuary\, which is home to over 250 rescued farm animals! This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to learn about the animals’ rescue stories and interact with cows\, pigs\, goats\, sheep\, and more! \nPlease allow ample time so you arrive on time. You won’t want to miss one moment of these magical creatures! \n**We have purchased a block of tickets\, which\, with fees\, cost $12.24 each. We are rounding up and will donate the difference to Poplar! Tickets sell out quickly\, so don’t delay!!!** \n**When You Arrive**\nPoplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is located at 15200 Mt. Nebo Rd. Poolesville MD. There is no sign at the entrance. You will see a green gate that is shut and a white mailbox with the number 15200 on it. Get out of your car to open the gate (it is only latched\, not locked)\, drive through\, and close the gate behind you. Follow the gravel drive one mile to the marked and gated parking area. Please remain inside the gated parking area until the tour begins. Feel free to take photos of the animals and sanctuary! Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty\, we will be interacting with all the animals. Dress for the weather\, as the tour is all outdoors \n**Transportation**\nThe sanctuary is only accessible by car. If you need a ride\, feel free to post to the page below. SUMMARY:Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary Open House + VSDC/Meetup Gathering at 2 pm
DESCRIPTION:*Update: Terry Cummings\, the co-founder\, will say hello to our group and provide an overview of Poplar Spring.*\n*The Open House is 1 to 4 pm. VSDC and our meetup members will gather at 2 pm to meet one another\, eat lunch together\, and see the sanctuary – whatever people would like to do. We will gather to the right of the small gift shop structure. Look for Saurabh who will be wearing a Green VSDC t-shirt. Then we will decide what to do and/or where to hang out.* \n**The [Poplar Spring](https://www.animalsanctuary.org/) Annual Open House and Fundraiser is free and set for Sunday\, October 1\, 2023 – 1 to 4 pm.** After a four year hiatus due to the pandemic\, they are planning this event at the sanctuary once again. Join [VSDC](www.vsdc.org) and many hundreds of people as the Open House will feature a live band\, catered food and drinks\, balloons and face painting\, and the opportunity to stroll around and visit the rescued animals. There will not be a silent auction this year. Again\, No admission fee\, but donations (of any amount) to Poplar Spring are very much appreciated. \nBring a chair\, a water bottle\, and anything else you need for this outdoor event. \nFor further information\, see their [website](https://www.animalsanctuary.org/events/annual-events/) \nPlease note that VSDC will not have a table at this event but we are pleased to support and promote the open house. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a volunteer day at Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary. Poplar can only accommodate 20 volunteers so we are limiting this to **current dues-paying** **VSDC members only**. You must be a paid member to attend. \nIf you are not a VSDC member and would like to join\, you may do so [here.](https://vsdc.org/membership/) \n**PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW TO REGISTER** \nYou must register at [https://vsdc.org/memberevents/#!event/2023/3/11/poplar-spring-volunteer-day ](https://vsdc.org/memberevents/#!event/2023/3/11/poplar-spring-volunteer-day) before you RSVP. You will need your VSDC member login to register. Also please RSVP on Meetup and indicate if you have registered. If you RSVP yes on Meetup and you haven’t registered you will be removed. **We are limited to 20 people so please change your RSVP to no if you can’t go so someone else can.** Once your RSVP is changed to no we will cancel your registration so someone else can register. We will be checking registrations at the event. If you have not registered you will not be permitted to attend so we can keep our attendance at 20. This is for the safety of the volunteers and the animals at the sanctuary. \nThis our first attempt at a members only event using this system so please bear with us.
