DESCRIPTION:Join us for an easy walk around Fairfax County’s Burke Lake Park. The 4.7 mile flat\, paved trail offers lovely views of the lake and a quiet contemplative place to enjoy a leisurely social hike. \nThis hike is rated as easy based on flat terrain and minimal obstacles. We’ll be sharing the trail with other hikers\, runners and bicyclists and ask that folks walk two abreast\, allowing others to pass so that we can “share the road”. \nWhen you sign up to join a hike you automatically acknowledge\nVSDC Vegan Trekkers Liability Waiver: https://vsdc.org/activity-waiver/ \nTrail map: https://www.hikingupward.com/OVH/BurkeLake/ \nTransportation: We’ll meet in the parking lot off of the Burke Lake Mini Golf course. There is a $10 fee for non-Fairfax County residents on weekends (April – October only). Socializing beforehand and discussion about the movie afterwards is planned. \nThis event will screen Seaspiracy\, the follow up 2021 film made by the same team behind Cowspiracy\, that examines how commercial fishing devastates marine animals—and what will happen if humans continue to consume fish. \nWHAT: Animal rights / vegan themed Movie Watch Party in Fairfax VA. The home has a small home theater that can accommodate around 20 people. This is part of a planned monthly event\, typically Saturday evenings or Sunday afternoons\, as a fun way to learn\, discuss\, and meet vegans and vegan-curious people at a VSDC member’s home (Thanks to Mindy Kursban and David Kwiatkowski for hosting!). \nFEE: The $10 fee will cover the hosts’ expenses for the event\, including food\, beverages\, and other associated costs. To evoke him\, Brooks turned to the journals and letters of Bronson Alcott\, Louisa May’s real father — and a vegetarian advocate. March won the [2006 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction](https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/geraldine-brooks). \nTo participate you must read at least half the book—and RSVP at least two days before the meeting. (This is a Sunday afternoon meeting.
