The 4.7 mile flat\, paved trail offers lovely views of the lake and a quiet contemplative place to enjoy a leisurely social hike. \nThis hike is rated as easy based on flat terrain and minimal obstacles. We’ll be sharing the trail with other hikers\, runners and bicyclists and ask that folks walk two abreast\, allowing others to pass so that we can “share the road”. \nWhen you sign up to join a hike you automatically acknowledge\nVSDC Vegan Trekkers Liability Waiver: https://vsdc.org/activity-waiver/ \nTrail map: https://www.hikingupward.com/OVH/BurkeLake/ \nTransportation: We’ll meet in the parking lot off of the Burke Lake Mini Golf course. There is a $10 fee for non-Fairfax County residents on weekends (April – October only). DESCRIPTION:Please join the Veg Society of DC Book Club discussion of Jamie Raskin’s “Unthinkable: Trauma\, Truth\, and the Trials of American Democracy.” This meeting takes place online via zoom. For clarity\, the group discusses the book. The author does not join us. \nJamie Raskin\, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Takoma Park\, Maryland\, writes about the 45 days at the start of 2021 when he faced the tragic death of his (vegan) son\, experienced the insurrection\, and led the impeachment effort. \nTo participate you must read at least half the book—and RSVP at least two days before the meeting. \nDon’t be a no show! This documentary explores the correlation between the treatment of animals and emerging health threats. This allows for both ideas to be in the same space and gives the other person an opportunity to explain their thinking. \n7. Assume good intentions. We are all here to learn and grow together. If something does not sound right\, ask first for clarification before jumping to conclusions. \n8. If there is an issue\, speak up in the moment\, if at all possible. Some may not realize that what they said had a negative impact on those in the room. Speaking up can give them the opportunity to correct what they said. \n9. If it is not possible to resolve amongst yourselves\, request that the host join your room. Once he enters your breakout room you can explain the situation or send him a private message if you are not comfortable stating the problem openly. SUMMARY:Virtual Game Night: Codenames
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a VSDC remote game night featuring Codenames. Codenames is an award-winning word game where two teams compete by each having a “Spymaster” give clues that can point to one or more words on the board. Teammates attempt to guess their team’s words while avoiding the words of the other team. The first team to guess all of their words wins. \nNote: the game room will be locked 10 minutes after the start of the event\, so please be on time. \nDon’t worry if you’ve never played Codenames before. All are welcome and we’ll go over the basic rules at the start of the event. They will need assistance cleaning\, hauling hay\, and stocking their gift shop.
