SUMMARY:Dine Veg*n at TimeOut Market Rooftop on the East River #DUMBOBrooklyn
DESCRIPTION:**You can join the TimeOut Rooftop event for any length of time\, we will check out various Veg*n establishments available at the market and hangout primarily at the Rooftop area. The main group will be meeting in the Rooftop area around 7:30pm after ordering our vegan meals\, but it is ok to meet us later if you need to. Eating Food or Drinking at this event is your choice and not mandatory.** \nTimeOut Market provides New York’s most innovative eating-and-drinking destination and features the city’s top chefs\, most-talked-about restaurants and buzziest drinks\, plus the latest in arts and culture\, all together on the beautiful Brooklyn waterfront — overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge\, the East River\, and Lower Manhattan. (It is a beautiful sight\, and especially fun on a summer night.) Come join us as we’ll try different veg*n establishments at this venue and enjoy the spectacular river\, bridge and Manhattan skyline views. \nWe plan to buy takeout food at TimeOut Market and go to the rooftop at Level 5\, feel free to buy your choice of food/drink as you wish. There are quite a few establishments at the TimeOut Market that serve 1 or 2 vegan options\, I would highly recommend you to explore. These are mostly on the ground floor. BKLYN Wild is the only full vegan venue and it is on the ground floor. Please order to-go food to dine by the Timeout Market Rooftop at Level 5. Level 5 itself also has a few vegan options at the few food vendors there. Meetup members will be hanging out at this level. \nHere’s a Yelp review that greatly sums up this place – “*I love food markets as it allows everyone you are with to try the food they want under one roof! Granted this place does not run cheap but I am happy to pay a little bit more for the experience and flexibility. The place is very clean – much more so than similar places in LA or San Francisco with options for everyone! There are many different food types including drinks those that cater to vegans and vegetarians and several bars. We were happy to pick up some cool IPAs we cannot get at home! We grabbed an açaí bowl\, ramen \, avocado toast and salad from various vendors and everyone enjoyed their dishes ! Great place !*” \nFOR OUR NEW MEMBERS: this is an incredibly friendly and welcoming group. We are a FUN group. Join us for a stellar summer evening of lively conversations with fellow vegetarians and vegans\, from this iconic Brooklyn Rooftop venue. \nAt Timeout Market – Everyone pays for themselves at veg*n establishments. Most of them take major credit cards. Easy! \nTRAIN DIRECTIONS: For Timeout Market – Take 2 train to Clark St – 10 Min/ 0.5 mile walk\, or A/F train to York St – 7 Min/ 0.4 mile walk\, or R train to Court Street Station – 15 Min/ 0.8 mile walk \nWe would love to have you join us – Mark the day!\nKarthik :)) \n**You can join the TimeOut Rooftop event for any length of time\, we will check out various Veg*n establishments available at the market and hangout primarily at the Rooftop area. SUMMARY:Virtual Game Night: Codenames
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a VSDC remote game night featuring Codenames. Codenames is an award-winning word game where two teams compete by each having a “Spymaster” give clues that can point to one or more words on the board. SUMMARY:Veg Night Out at City Vineyard (Roof Top)
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our monthly Veg Night Out! This month it’s at City Vineyard’s Rooftop located on Pier 26. It will be a perfect location for us to chill and enjoy the evening by the water. \nPer Hudson River Park: “…[City Vineyard](http://www.cityvineyardnyc.com/) is the place to go for stunning sunsets and Downtown views. You’ll find local\, fresh ingredients paired perfectly with wine made here in NYC.” For your information\, sunset will be at 6:58 pm on September 19th. \ntheInfatuation.com: “Picture a Venn Diagram. No\, really\, do it. We’ll wait. One circle represents all the places to drink good wine in New York City. … The other circle has all the places to drink outside in the summer\, filled with rooftops\, boats\, beer gardens\, and patios. As for the middle part of this diagram\, where good wine and good outdoor space overlap – it’s pretty tiny. But at least there’s City Vineyard.” \nTimeOut: “… offers 15 City wines on tap\, from a New York State riesling to a Napa meritage. Beyond the grape\, find cocktails like a guava-watermelon mojito\, a mescal sunrise with grapefruit and a sparkling rosé float\, and a Moscow mule updated with house-infused lemongrass green tea…” \nFrom 6:30pm-9:00pm\nCity Vineyard Roof Top\n233 West Street\, NYC\n646-677-8350 \nWith all the wonderful vegetarians and vegans who attend each of our events\, every event we do is liked by our members\, but our “Veg Night Out!” events are the most popular of all. People enjoy the fact they can mingle (speak with lots of different people)\, and they love the beautiful venues that we go to. Join us for a stellar evening of lively conversation and lovely surroundings with fellow vegetarians and vegans. \nFor our new members: this is an incredibly friendly and welcoming group. We’ll be hanging out by the main bar area\, and you can get to know all our wonderful members. \nThis event has no cover and no minimum. But please do buy a drink or two\, or as many as you like. The venue requests that you dress appropriately: business\, business casual or smart casual. \nJoin us for a fun and relaxed evening socializing with fellow vegetarians and vegans. \nClosest trains stations are A\, C\, E \, 1\, & 2 train to Canal. \nEddie

And feel free to grab something to eat at anytime\, just for yourself. There are many\, many vegetarian and vegan options in the many restaurants\, and numerous restaurants are all-vegetarian (though not all-vegan\, so check your specific item before ordering). \nKarthik and David \nDescription of Navratri and Garba\n———————————————–\nDescription of Navratri and Garba \nNavratri\, Where nav means nine and ratri means nights…\nNavratri festival sacred to the Mother Goddess is celebrated in the months of October and November. It is a festival of worship\, dance and music celebrated over a period of nine nights. It is celebrated from the first to the ninth date of Ashwin Shukla Paksha of the Hindu Calendar for the worship of the Goddess Durga. This festival commemorates the victory of Goddess Durga over a demon\, Mahishasur. \nDuring Navratri\, devotees of Durga fast and pray for health and prosperity. It is an occasion for vibrant festivities. The Garba or Dandiya Raas is the most significant feature during the festival of Navratri. This is the traditional and folk dance of the state of Gujarat\, but today\, everyone performs this dance with great fervor and enthusiasm. During the dance\, a decorated pot is ceremoniously placed with a light inside and the women folk dance in a circle\, singing ‘traditional songs’ or ‘garbas’. \nThen there is a pooja on each day of this holy period where Goddess Durga\, known in this state as Ambe Maa is worshipped for prosperity and happiness. During all the nine nights\, men\, women and children flock together in the street and peform Garba-Raas in circumambulation around the statue of devi\, accompanied by religious songs eulogizing the Mother-Goddess in tune with instrumental music till late night which has deep socio-religious impact on the Hindu society. A Mandvi of the Goddess is framed by woodcarving in which a small idol of Mother Goddess is placed with a number of ghee lamps. The devotees put this Mandvi on their heads and maintaining balance\, perform Garba-dance. \nGujarat is the cardinal center for the celebration of Navratri Mahotsava\, where young men and women wearing traditional attire dance with zeal\, joy\, jubilation and devotional fervor\, till late mid-night. Out of the nine forms of Mother-Goddess\, the triumvirate of Mahakali\, Maha-Laxmi and Maha-Sarasvati symbolize prowess\, affluence and erudition – the most essential things for the prosperity and progress of mankind. the Mother-Goddess grants all these three to the devotees who observe Navratri in right spirit.\n———————————————–

SUMMARY:[CANCELLED] Hike: Prince William Forest National Park\, Triangle\, VA
DESCRIPTION:[CANCELLED] Join us for a hike through the largest protected natural area in the DMV\, Prince William Forest Park. Encompassing over 18\,500 acres and rich in history\, this land was once home to an enclave of formerly enslaved people which was gradually converted from the late 1930’s to national parkland. \nWe’ll meet in front of the Visitors Center and take the Laurel Loop Trail beyond the picnic area to the right. From there we’ll pick up a loop trail that winds through one of the country’s best examples of Eastern Piedmont forest. If we’re lucky we’ll see evidence of the park’s wildlife\, including beavers\, deer\, and squirrels. \nThis hike is rated as difficult largely due to its length and terrain. Prepare to encounter uneven and possibly muddy woodland trails\, with 600 feet of elevation gain\, by wearing sturdy hiking shoes and appropriate clothing. \nPark map: https://www.nps.gov/prwi/planyourvisit/maps.htm \nThis event is for those who are fully vaccinated only. Also please do not attend if you are sick or have been near someone who thinks they may have or have been exposed to COVID-19. \nTransportation: Park at the Pine Grove Picnic Area. SUMMARY:Veg*n Picnic in Madison Square Park - PLNT Burger\, Vegan Taqueria\, Anita Gelato
DESCRIPTION:**Vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants** seem to be **opening almost every month** in the **conveniently located Madison Square Park area.** And Madison Square Park itself has a large picnic area with tons of tables and chairs. Join us on this early October evening for a beautiful evening picnic under the lights\, as we order order take-out from the numerous nearby vegan and vegan-friendly restuarants. \nTwo of the newest restaurants are **PLNT Burger** and **Mas Veggies Vegan Taqueria**. Also new to most of us is **Anita Gelato**\, a **(non-vegan)** dessert venue with **TEN vegan ice cream and gelato options.** \n**Take your pick: Get take-out from one or SEVERAL of the vegan and vegan-friendly venues on the list below\, and THEN ***meet us in Madison Square Park in the picnic area by the Shake Shack*** for a sprawling veg*n take-out picnic. We’ll be putting the tables and chairs together into one\, hugely-long table — you’ll see it!** \n**1. PLNT Burger – ALL-VEGAN**\n1147 Broadway (bet. W. 26th & W. 27th Streets)\n[https://www.plntburger.com](https://www.plntburger.com)\nThis new-to-New York burgers-and-fries chain has taken the city by storm. \n**2. Más Veggies Vegan Taqueria / Veggie Grill – ALL-VEGAN**\n12 W. 23rd St. (bet. 5th & 6th Aves.)\n[https://www.eatmasveggies.com](https://www.eatmasveggies.com)\nNow sharing space with 23rd Street’s excellent Veggie Grill (an all-vegan burger joint)\, new kid on the block Más Veggies Vegan Taqueria offers an outstanding Mexican menu. \n**3. Anita Gelato (aka: Anita La Mamma del Gelato)**\n1141 Broadway (corner of W. 26th Street)\n[https://www.anita-gelato.com](https://www.anita-gelato.com)\nInternational gelato chain “Anita La Mamma del Gelato” — newly in New York\, at the corner of Broadway & W. 26th Street — **is just a couple of doors down from PLNT Burger (see above)**. **Not all vegan**\, they have 150 homemade ice cream and gelato flavors\, **TEN** of which are **vegan**. \n**4. NuLeaf – ALL-VEGAN**\n23 W. 23rd St. (bet. 5th & 6th Aves.)\n[https://www.eatnuleaf.com](https://www.eatnuleaf.com)\nYet another newish all-vegan restaurant\, this one is across the street from Más Veggies Vegan Taqueria / Veggie Grill. They specialize in salads\, vegan bowls\, wraps\, and soups and chili. Their large menu also includes a lot of side dishes\, including multiple kinds of seitan\, tofu\, roasted sweet potatoes\, broccoli\, grilled chicken\, baked beans\, and smoky maple mushrooms. \n**5. Marty’s V Burger – ALL-VEGAN**\n134 East 27th St. (bet. (We hosted one a few months ago.) The original burgers-and-fries venue in the Madison Square Park area\, this longtime favorite continues to expand its menu. Marty’s serves a wide variety of vegan burgers\, and their menu also includes Crabby Patties\, Vegan Drumstix\, and a large selection of entree salads\, wraps\, and vegan desserts. \n**6. THEN ***Meet us in Madison Square Park in the picnic area by the Shake Shack*** for a sprawling veg*n take-out picnic. We’ll be putting the tables and chairs together into one\, hugely-long table — you’ll see it! Again\, this is in the picnic area by the Shake Shack\, inside of Madison Square Park.** (Madison Square Park is a three-block-long park between Madison Ave. & 5th Ave.\, bounded by E. 23rd St. on the south side of the park\, going to E. 26th St. on the north side of the park.
