SUMMARY:Vegan Dinner at Le Botaniste Bryant Park
DESCRIPTION:**Come any time between 7:00pm and 9:00pm\, stay as long as you want\, or leave when you need to. (Arriving at 7:30pm or 8:00pm is perfectly fine\, though arriving at 7:00pm is ideal.)** \nJoin us at the brand new Le Botaniste’s Bryant Park location\, vegan\, gluten free\, organic restaurant. Le Pain Quotidien founder and Chief Creative Officer\, Alain Coumont opened the first botanical-based\, apothecary-inspired NYC in Feb 1\, 2016\, on Lexington and 63rd. Now he’s opened another by Bryant Park! \nLePainQuotidien.com: “[Le Botaniste] is the counterpart to the Belgium-based restaurant of the same name and intends to further organic\, plant-based eating in New York City. … The restaurant is designed to evoke the feeling of a classic apothecary … mindful eating.” \nFrom **WellandGood.com**: “Healthy\, Organic\, and Affordable: LE BOTANISTE Ticks Off All The Boxes … How often do you hear about a great food spot that’s health-conscious\, organic\, and affordable—oh\, and serves wine? … Le Botaniste is the sort of vegan\, gluten-free\, and organic restaurant that has an impressive wine list—sulfite-free\, pesticide-free\, and biodynamically grown—and takes dessert seriously…” \n**Time Out New York** says: “Bread-loving Belgian megachain Le Pain Quotidien is behind this apothecary-inspired wine bar\, a sister to the Ghent\, Belgium original… lab coat-clad bar staff pour unfiltered\, biodynamic wines curated by Le Pain Quotidien founder Alain Coumont … The food menu is similarly organic and boasts no animal products. Instead expect chefly ‘prescriptions’ such as the Tibetan Mama (brown rice\, steamed greens and spicy kimchi in a peanut-curry sauce) and Dirty Noodle Soup (tofu\, steamed leeks\, garlic).” \n**New York Times**: “Le Botaniste Alain Coumont … has turned what was once one of his New York locations into a vegetarian wine bar … The décor suggests an old-fashioned pharmacy\, and the bowls\, containing a starch\, sauce or side item and a topping\, all organic\, are called prescriptions. What’s not eaten is recycled or composted.” \nFor those of you who have never attended one of our Meetup events: this is an incredibly friendly & welcoming group. It will be easy to find our group: we are taking over the majority of the restaurant. Also\, everyone pays for their own meal. Easy! \n**Where to Meet**: Please meet us in the back room. Ask the staff if needed. \n**Train Directions**: The closest trains are the (B)\, (D)\, (F)\, & (M) to 42 St-Bryant Pk\, (N)\, (Q)\, (R)\, (W) & (S) to Times Square-42 St\, and (7) to 5 Av. Please note any MTA reroutes on the day of event. \n**Come any time between 6:30pm and 9:00pm\, stay as long as you want\, or leave when you need to. (Arriving at 7:30pm or 8:00pm is perfectly fine\, though arriving at 6:30pm or 7:00pm is ideal.)** \nEddie

SUMMARY:VSDC Movie Watch Party\, Discussion\, and Vegan Food
DESCRIPTION:Join the [Veg Society of DC (VSDC)](vsdc.org) for the animal rights/vegan-themed Movie Watch Party on Saturday\, December 7\, in Fairfax VA. Socializing beforehand and discussion about the movie afterwards is planned. \nThis month’s movie is **Christspiracy: The Spirituality Secret**\, a film co-directed by award-winning filmmaker Kip Andersen (Netflix: Cowspiracy 2014\, What the Health 2017\, Seaspiracy 2021) and Kameron Waters): A “thrilling\, eye-opening documentary\, as two fearless filmmakers journey across the world\, they unravel a hidden conspiracy that has twisted sacred teachings\, manipulated religions\, and deceived humanity for centuries. With the stakes higher than ever\, they expose the powerful forces that have shaped our beliefs and betrayed the core principles of truth\, compassion\, and freedom that lie at the heart of every spiritual path.” The movie is 1 hour and 43 minutes. \nThe VSDC member hosts’ home in Fairfax has a small home theater that can accommodate around 20 people. This regular event is a fun way to learn\, discuss\, and meet vegans and vegan-curious people (Thanks to Mindy Kursban and David Kwiatkowski for hosting!). \nFEE: The $10 fee will cover the hosts’ expenses for the event\, including food\, beverages\, and other associated costs. If there are any proceeds beyond these costs\, which we don’t expect\, they will go towards VSDC’s work to fulfill its mission. In order to ensure the success of the evening and limit late cancellations\, the fee is refundable until 5 days before the event. \nFOOD: Pizza\, salad\, fruit\, and dessert. Everyone is also welcome to bring vegan food or beverages to share. \nWHO: All VSDC and Meetup members are invited. Bringing a non-vegan friend is encouraged. \nWHEN: Saturday\, December 7 starting at 6:30 pm. We will begin watching the film around 7. \nWHERE: The home is in Fairfax VA 22033\, near Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. It is 8 miles from the closest metro at either Vienna or Reston (Uber or Lyft would be necessary). **For safety and security reasons\, the exact location will be emailed privately via Meetup about 2 days in advance to those who have rsvp’d Yes.** Please make sure your email is current in Meetup\, your Meetup settings allow organizer messages\, and check your spam if you don’t receive the message. \n**CONTACT THE HOST:** If you need to contact the organizer\, Mindy’s phone is 301-520-1723. \nPARKING: There is plenty of free parking within a 3-minute walk of the home. \n*You must register via this page to attend the event.* A Pay Pal account is required to pay the $10. Because there is a cost for the event\, Meetup doesn’t have a waitlist for the movie. If it is full and you are interested in attending\, please contact the host. \n**VSDC: More Than A Meetup**\nWe are so glad to have you as part of The Veg Society of DC Vegan Meetup group\, and we enjoy seeing you at our events. Did you know that [VSDC](https://vsdc.org/) is a nonprofit organization with membership benefits?\nWith VSDC membership\, you will save money at area restaurants and businesses\, attend VSDC member-only events\, and\, most importantly\, support us as a clear and consistent voice for improving the lives of all beings through community building and education centered on the benefits of a vegan diet and lifestyle. \nThe membership fee is minimal\, but the impact is significant!
