Mirisata is a takeout-only pop-up Vegan & Plant- Based restaurant in Portland, OR that features authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Our rotating menus feature traditional vegetarian dishes along with veganized versions of curries, short eats, and hoppers that usually include meat or eggs.
Mirisata loosely translates from Sinhala to "spicy curry." Not everything we serve is spicy, but it is bursting with flavor and unlike anything else you can find in Portland. Our food is 100% vegan and much of it is gluten-free.
We're structured as a worker-owned cooperative, currently with four members: Rochelle, Victor, Alex, and Simar.
Alex grew up eating Sri Lankan food prepared by his dad, who was raised in the mountainous tea country of central Sri Lanka. After years of learning to prepare his favorite dishes at home, he was inspired to start what became the first vegan Sri Lankan restaurant in the world. As a worker cooperative, we all contribute in different ways to create beautiful and delicious food! We look forward to sharing it with you.
