Vegan Picnic & Games at Prospect Park

April 23 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm GMT-0400

Join us for a beautiful spring vegan picnic brunch in Prospect Park. We’ll start with a shopping visit to the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket — the second largest Greenmarket in NYC, after the Union Square Market. The Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket is right next to Prospect Park.

The plan is to spend about 45min at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket, which is across the street from **the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch (we will meet directly underneath the arch, in the middle of it)**, our meeting point. At the Greenmarket, among a wide variety of stands, you will find a booth with vegan and gluten-free baked goods. So, if you don’t have time to prepare a meal for yourself for the picnic, you’ll be able to get satisfying vegan food at the Greenmarket.

From the Greenmarket, we’ll step to the nearest lawn, at Prospect Park, where we can sit on the grass and enjoy our brunch. We’ll boost our social time with outdoor games that you like and ready to bring with you to the park (e.x. frisbee, whoosh, balls and boardgames).

It might be useful for you to bring: a blanket, food, outdoor games, a shopping bag. (If you are ambitious and geeky, and have a super-collapsible folding chair, you can bring that too. This sentence was added by David. 🙂 )

**Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket**
**Prospect Park West & Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn**
**Northwest corner of Prospect Park**

From the Greenmaket website: “Founded in 1989, Grand Army Plaza is Greenmarket’s flagship Brooklyn market, and the second largest market in the program, behind Union Square. Located at the northwest entrance to beautiful Prospect Park, and just steps from the Brooklyn Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This community destination brings together a mix of shoppers from the nearby neighborhoods of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, and beyond. Runners, dog-walkers, families, and food lovers all converge to buy from the huge array of farm fresh products, and to participate in the programming and cooking demonstrations that take place every Saturday all year long.”

**Train Directions:** Take the 2 or 3 Trains to Grand Army Plaza. Or take the Q Train to 7th Avenue (corner of Flatbush Avenue) and walk down Flatbush Ave. to Prospect Park West.

**Where to Meet: We will meet at 11:00am sharp, directly under the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Arch, in the middle of Grand Army Plaza. Grand Army Plaza is at the Northwest corner of Prospect Park (at the corner of Prospect Park West & Flatbush Avenue. We will wait directly under the arch, in the center of the arch, for 15 minutes only — don’t be late! At 11:15am we will walk across the street to the Greenmarket.**

**See you under the Arch, at 11:00am!** Looking forward to our Greenmarket visit, and a beautiful spring brunch in the park — with Frisbees, board games and card games. Bring your own Frisbees and favorite games!
